Salters Horners Advanced Physics
Salters Horners Advanced Physics (SHAP) is a context-led AS and A-level physics course. Each of the eleven teaching units is structured round a context or application of physics, to interest and motivate students and to provide a vehicle for learning. Unit contexts include music, food, space technology, telecommunications and astronomy. Each unit contains a wide variety of activities, many of which were developed specifically for SHAP and relate to the unit contexts.
SHAP was developed by the University of York Science Education Group and involved many teachers, academics and industrialists. The course is examined by Edexcel and supported by comprehensive materials published by Heinemann. For more information about SHAP, visit the project website.
