Liquid nitrogen (or liquid air), supply of

Suppliers

The British Oxygen Company (BOC) supplies liquid nitrogen. However, the smallest quantity BOC will supply is 25 litres. If this goes directly to your school it will last 4 or 5 weeks. It will cost (in November 2004) £50, the vacuum flask costing £20 for a month’s hire and the delivery charge approaching £30. So you, and perhaps the other science departments would need to plan other uses (showing flowers becoming as brittle as glass is good). If the nitrogen were delivered to a nearby depot (or cryogenic operating base), it is possible that several local schools could collect smaller quantities, though that would have to be negotiated. Initial inquiries should be made on 0800 111333.
